Jajpur: After a policeman engaged in security services of Biraja temple in Jajpur district tested positive for coronavirus, the district administration Thursday imposed Section 144 around the temple.
The prohibitory order will continue till 8am of August 25, sub-collector Narayan Chandra Dhal said while adding that the decision was taken to contain the spread of the virus.
Dhal said that the priest and other members of the temple have been asked to undergo home quarantine for 14 days. The district administration with the help of health department will collect swab samples of the suspects during their home quarantine period.

Meanwhile, sanitation drive in the temple premises and outside the temple has been started by the fire brigade.
It may be stated here that, the district recorded 69 fresh positive cases Thursday. The total number of COVID-19 cases has reached at 2,379 in the district. Out of them, 664 are undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 hospitals while 1,710 patients have recovered from the disease. The COVID-19 virus has taken the life of four persons in the district so far. Meanwhile, one COVID-19 patient died of comorbidities in the district.
