Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah currently undergoing treatment for a stress fracture on his back in London and his mother Daljit recalled their days of struggle in a video which has recently been posted on their twitter handle by Mumbai Indians.
The one minute 46 second video has an introduction by Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani.
“Talent can come from anywhere and reach the pinnacle of success. I would like to share with you the transformational journey of a young boy who was discovered by Mumbai Indians from a small time of India,” Nita Ambani said, before the screen started displaying Jasprit Bumrah’s inspirational journey.
Mumbai Indians on the other hand captioned the video: “Talent can come from anywhere and reach the pinnacle of success. Watch the transformational journey of @Jaspritbumrah93 from a rookie to a world-beater.”

The video starts with Daljit speaking her mind. “When he (Jasprit) was five-year-old, I lost my husband,” recalled Daljit.
Jasprit Bumrah then took over. “After that we couldn’t afford anything. I had one pair of shoes. I used to have one pair of T-shirts. I used to wash them every day and use it again and again. So, as a child you know you hear stories that sometimes these things happen that some people come and watch you and you get picked up like this. But it actually happened,” the 25-year-old pacer said.
Daljit said she was so happy to see Jasprit play an IPL game for the first time on TV that she couldn’t hold her tears back. “The first time when I saw him on that IPL match on TV, I couldn’t stop crying. He has seen me struggle financially and physically also,” Daljit said.
Jasprit on the other hand said, “All these tough times make you strong because you’ve seen tougher days before.”
Meanwhile India head coach Ravi Shastri has said that once Jasprit Bumrah recovers from his injury, the bowler’s work load will have to be properly addressed.
