Bhubaneswar: In a quick response to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s demand, Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar Tuesday extended the last date of registration for JEE (Advanced) by five days.
“I am happy to announce that students from Odisha appearing for JEE (Advanced) 2019 will get an extension of five days till May 14 for their registration. A decision to this effect was taken following the request of Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik,” tweeted Javadekar.
Earlier in the day, Naveen requested the minister to extend the registration date of JEE Advanced exam by at least 10 days in the aftermath of cyclone Fani. The CM had said that due to non-availability of internet at many locations in Odisha after Fani, brilliant Odia students have not been able to register their names online.
The JEE (Advanced) 2019 exam is scheduled to be held May 29. The period of registration was from May 3 to May 9. IIT, Roorkee is the organising institute for the JEE (Advanced) Examination this year. Earlier, the government had asked the Centre to postpone NEET exam date which was rescheduled May 20.
