New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokriyal announced Tuesday the postponement of the JEE (Main) May 2021 session due to the prevailing coronavirus disease (Covid-19) situation in India. “Looking at the present situation of Covid-19 and keeping students safety in mind, JEE (Main) – May 2021 session has been postponed. Students are advised to keep visiting the official website of National Testing Agency (NTA) for further updates,” Pokhriyal tweeted.
It should be stated here that there was no option other than postponing the JEE (Main) session. India registered Tuesday more than 3.57 lakh cases. It took the total number of affected persons in the country to more than two crore. In such a situation it would have been wrong to burden the students, the minister said.
