Jeet enters final

Cuttack, July 17: Jeet Kishore Das entered the final of the VIth Pradeep Sen Memorial Snooker Championships after winning his semifinal encounter 5-2 (41-60, 73-29, 61-70, 51-26, 67-6, 53-19, 59-40) against Nishant Biswal at the Cuttack Club here Friday.
Even though, there were no substantial breaks in the seven frames played, Jeet emerged the more consistent player of the two. After falling behind 1-2, Jeet reeled off four frames in a row to emerge victorious. He was particularly good in the fifth and sixth frames when he allowed Nishant just one visit to the table.

Orissa players performed splendidly Friday in the seventh round of the National U-11 Open Chess Championships which is currently on in Pondicherry. Sambit Panda and Vaibhav Singh registered easy wins, while Mahitosh Dey played out a draw.
Sambit got the better of Manish Anto Cristiano of Tamil Nadu to occupy the joint second spot with six points. In another game, Vaibhav outwitted Rothik Ponnapalli of Telangana to maintain his joint fourth position with five points. However Mahitosh shared points with Kushagra Mohan of Telangana. He is now joint third with 5.5 points.
