Bhubaneswar: BJD president Naveen Patnaik Thursday appointed former Bhubaneswar mayor Ananta Narayan Jena as the party’s general secretary.
Jena has been given additional responsibility as party observer for Bhubaneswar organisational district and Keonjhar’s Patna assembly constituency, said BJD leader Bijay Nayak. Earlier, the state government had appointed Jena as the new chairman of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA).
Sources said, Jena was lobbying for a party ticket. But, the party is not in a mood to give him a ticket. Therefore, he has been rehabilitated in these posts in the party, they said.
Meanwhile, the BJD has revoked the suspension of former chairman of Paradip municipality Gobind Tarai, Nayak added.
