Jharsuguda: A team from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and officials from Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) carried out an inspection on the chances of Jharsuguda airport getting the license to operate Airbus-320 flight.
“The inspection has been done for the license for operating the 4C type category of aircraft, i.e. Airbus-320. The Jharsuguda airport will get the license to operate these kind of aircraft on the basis of BCAS and DGCA’s report,” said SK Chauhan, director, Jharsuguda airport.
Sources said the two-day inspection started Thursday. A deputy director from Mumbai DGCA office and an assistant director from Delhi carried out the inspection. They checked the ATS tower, emergency health facility, runway, electrification of runway, security post, terminal, tower and other facilities like water, electricity, road, etc.
A five-member team led by BCAS regional director DP Sharma checked all facilities related to the security of the airport.
A detailed report would be given to DGCA within a week, Chauhan said.
While the airport has already received category 2B license in May, the director is hopeful of getting the 4C type license soon.
