Bhubaneswar, June 11: Jammu and Kashmir Zone-A and Central Zone-A will meet in the final of the All India CRPF Inter-zonal hockey tournament at the Kalinga Stadium here Friday.
In the semifinals played Thursday, J&K blanked North Eastern Zone-A 3-0 while Central Zone-A thrashed Central Zone-B 7-0 to enter the summit clash round. North East Zone-A finished third after thrashing Central Zone-B 6-3.
Nominations announced
The Biju Patnaik Sports Award- 2014 jury committee meeting was conducted here Thursday and chaired by sports and youth services department secretary Saswat Mishra. The awards to be presented are: ‘Lifetime achievement’, ‘Outstanding player of the year’, ‘Coach of the year’ and ‘Sports journalist of the year’.
Narayan Sahu, Mukteswar Kisan and Asok Kumar Sahu have been shortlisted for the lifetime achievement awards.
Sportspersons nominated for player of the year awards are Payal Baral, Lohit Kishore Bal, Rubuli Singh, Sasmita Moharana, Subha Darshini Patra, Subhashree Singh, Rashmi Jena, Mamali Jena, Aiswarya Baral, Arati Baral, Mama Jena, Liza Rani Nayak, Amita Jena, Pramila Kirsani and Asit Mishra.
Sita Prasad Patnaik, P Dharma Rao, Sanhita Das, Md Shahid Jabbar, Babuli Swain, Prakash Chandra Panigrahi and Nanda Kishore Patnaik are in contention for coach of the year award.
