JMM demands CBI probe in Sushmita death case

Rourkela: Political rigmarole surrounding the mysterious death of former Rourkela assistant collector Sushmita Minz is growing by the day. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is the latest to join the protests demanding a CBI investigation into the death of Sushmita. Led by Letha Tirkey, a prominent leader of the tribal political outfit, around 400 members of the party demonstrated in front of the ADM’s office here Monday. The members of the outfit came in a procession from the ‘Fitness Park’ here before reaching the ADM’s office where they submitted a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Speaking to the media Letha reiterated JMM’s demand for CBI inquiry in the Sushmita death case. “We don’t believe the postmortem report. It is fake. Only a CBI enquiry will reveal the real culprits and the reasons behind her death,” Letha said.

On the investigation front, the manager of ‘Hotel Anurag’ Dinesh Roy was called for questioning by the police Monday. Roy later told the media that it was ‘routine’ interrogation. “I was asked about the CCTV footage by the police, but I told them we have a backup of only seven days,” Roy said. SP Rourkela, Mitrabhanu Mahapatra interacting with mediapersons said that 15 persons have been questioned so far in the case. He added that police would question all those who had interacted with Sushmita in the days leading to her demise. He added that police will try and get CCTV footage from the hotel.
