Paradip: The interview for 11 contractual posts at Paradip Government College was conducted October 28. The result however is not made public nor have any job aspirants been given appointment till date.
Paradip MLA Damodar Rout, the chairman of the College governing body (since last five months) has returned the file unapproved. With the prevailing political situation, it seems Dama is busy with non educational affairs leaving the appointment process undecided and floating.
The principal of the college, who was officiating as the secretary to the governing body also took his retirement October 31. A lecturer has thus been given the interim administration charge.
When contacted, the retired principal Surendra Mohan Mishra said, “everything regarding the decision has been intimated to the Chairman. I do not know the reason why the chairman has postponed it. The candidates who have come through the interviews could not be given appointment without approval of the chairman. As I am retired now, the governing body will decide everything.”
According to information, a notification regarding appointment for vacant posts of English, History, Economics, Botany lecturers, three lab assistants, one lab attendant, two grade four employees, and a sweeper was published October 23. Interviews for the mentioned posts have also been conducted October 28.
On the same day the principal and secretary of the governing body Surendra Mohan Mishra had sent the files for approval to Dama. He however, returned the files without giving approvals or stating any reason for the delay or probable discard.
Having been expelled from the BJD, it is speculated that his powers have been squeezed, making it uncertain as to whether or not the next governing body meeting sits or the management finds a different way out.
