Keonjhar: Even as 2019 polls draw closer, posters and leaflets against Champua MLA and the head of newly formed political outfit Jana Samrudhi Party (JSP), Sanatan Mahakud have appeared in most parts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhnaj, Angul, Dhenkanal and Sundergarh. Such development has warmed up the political atmosphere in Keonjhar.
However, JSP smelt a conspiracy in it and termed it as a sheer vilification campaign against Mahakud.
Interestingly, most of the posters appeal to people to “abandon Naveen, accept Sanatan.” Posters and banners have photos of Chief Minister Naveen Patniak and MLA Sanatan Mahakud. Contents in posters were written in such a manner that Sanatan is being projected as would-be Chief Minister. Credit of the posters was given to Jana Samrudhi Party, Odisha.
In a press statement, the party said,”As the general elections are a few months away, some vested interests have hatched a conspiracy to malign the Champua MLA. We demand that the police and the district administration start an investigation into the incident and take action against those who are behind this.”
They party warned of a massive agitation if the police fail to detect the printing press where the posters and leaflets were printed and the person who got them printed.
The party claimed that as the position of the party is well placed in the region, rival leaders of Mahakud fear debacles in the upcoming elections and have started a heinous campaign.
It was learnt that ahead of the polls, many leaders and mineral traders have launched an opening gambit to grab the seat from Sanatan in the mineral rich Champua constituency.
However, no complaint was lodged with police. “No complaint in this regard was received as yet. If it comes, action will be taken,” H Pandya, the DSP(DIB), Keonjhar said.
