Rourkela: With barely a few months left before the 2024 general elections, Sundargarh district is witnessing hectic political activities, especially by the saffron party. BJP’s Sundargarh MP Jual Oram is busy these days with the door-to-door ‘Jan Sampark Yatra’. And in this regard, he made a whirlwind tour of his old constituency Bonai from where he started his career as an MLA. Oram, who has been elected twice from Bonai as BJP MLA, visited Gurundia and Lathikata areas. The sole aim of the visit to these areas was to make the public aware of the nine-year rule of the Modi Government, of which he is a part. Jual was accompanied by a good number of party leaders and cadres during both programmes. “Bhai is very serious this time for Bonai and this time we are going to show what we can do,” said one Giridhari Pradhan over the phone.
Ironically, BJP has been losing in Jual’s home constituency continuously to CPI (M). At Gurundia, he participated in the death anniversary of the party’s former top leader Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. Then he took stock of the situation of all the developmental works. He also interacted with the local administrative officers.
Later he toured Lathikata. His main focus was Lathikata’s main market area. There also, made people aware of the developmental works undertaken by the Modi government in Centre. A small booklet containing all the major activities of the Central government during the last nine years was there. The booklet specially mentioned the corruption of PM Awas Yojana.
“Over 18 lakh homes have been handed over to the beneficiaries and another 9.5 lakh have been approved but the rampant corruption prevailing in the state has deprived them of this benefit,” said Jual, quoting the booklet. “What we have done in the last nine years for the poor and the underprivileged has no comparison. Be it through Ujjwala, Soubhagya or Jal Jiban Mission the NDA govt is showing its concern and determination for doing the best for those who really need it,” said Jual.
