Joda: Judokas from Keonjhar district bagged 10 medals at the State level Judo Championships, concluded in Bhubaneswar, August 12.
The district judokas secured four gold, an identical number of silver medals and two bronze in the one-day meet. Thirteen judokas from the district took part in the event.
Sumitra Munda, Swpna Topno, Arati Gop and Muchha Munda bagged a gold each, Josoda Purty, Sanjib Nayak, Krushna Khandayat and Ratha Gagaray finished with the silver each, while Swetarani Mahanta and Gurucharan Munda secured the bronze medals for the district.
The medallists have been selected for the Sub-Junior National Judo Championshipss at Una in Himachal Pradesh, September 7-11.
Table tennis meet
The 26th YGTTA Odisha Open Table Tennis Championships and State Inter-School Table Tennis Championships, organised by Cuttack’s Young Generation Table Tennis Association, will be played August 29-September 1 at the Sachin Tendulkar Indoor Hall in Barabati Stadium, Cuttack.
The Inter-School meet will be played August 29-30 where singles and team matches will be played in junior and senior categories. The open event, August 30-September 1, matches will be played in 10 different categories.
Santosh elected
Odisha Masters Athletic Association (OMAA) secretary Santosh Kumar Das has been elected as one of the vice-presidents of the Masters Athletic Federation of India (MAFI), the state body announced in a release Tuesday. The elections took place during a general body meeting at a hotel in Bangalore, July 29 and his term will be for five years.
