Angul: An elderly man died after being attacked by an elephant at Maranda village under Bantala police limits, Saturday morning.
The deceased identified as Jhataka Behera had gone to the backyard during the wee hours of the day. All of a sudden, an elephant moving around in the mango orchard nearby attacked Behera and trampled him. He died on the spot.
Following the incident, Forest Department personnel arrived at the spot to take stock of the situation.
