Barang: A herd of wild elephants from Chandaka forest caused extensive damage at the farmhouse of Raj Kishore Lenka at Bhagwatipur Kalapitsahi here late Wednesday. The herd entered the farmhouse after damaging the boundary wall and ate around 20 sacks of paddy stacked on the verandah. The elephants also damaged vegetable cultivation at the farmhouse. “The herd damaged two motorcycles and equal number of bicycles before returning to the forest,” Lenka said. On being informed, Forest department officials Thursday visited Lenka’s farmhouse and assessed the damage.
