Junagarh gangrape victim names bus driver Lalindra Sabar as an accused in fresh statement

Junagarh: The Junagarh gangrape victim has blamed the driver of the two-wheeler in which she was taking a lift as one of the accused. She stated during an interview that he was also a part of the group that gangraped her in a forested area near this township, September 14. She has demanded Lalindra Sabar, a bus driver by profession, who gave her the lift, should also be punished.

It should be stated here that police have so far arrested eight of the accused in the case after the victim lodged a complaint September 22. However, naming Lalindra has given a fresh twist to the case.

Kalahandi SP B Gangadhar said Friday that action has been taken according to first complaint made by the girl. Now that she has named another person, police will look into the matter.

Those arrested are Amit Naik (30), Prakash Naik alias Luku (22), Shanta Naik (24), Labanya Chhatriya (21), Anirudha Chhatriya (20), Binod Naik alias Ghatu (32) and Swayambar Bag (30) and a minor of Baxitulashipali village, and Tikamani Podh (32) of Tentulipada village.

The girl has demanded that all the accused should be hanged. She has asserted that unless capital punishment is meted out to them, she would end her life.
