Bhubaneswar: Justice Raghubir Dash was Thursday appointed as the acting chairperson of the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) with immediate effect.
Justice Dash, a retired judge of Orissa High court, has been working as a member of the three-member OHRC after his appointment December 23, 2018 following the High Court’s direction on immediate filing up of vacant posts.
The Law department in a notification Thursday asserted that the state government was pleased to authorise justice Dash, who is also the member of OHRC, to act as the chairperson with immediate effect until the appointment of a regular chairperson.
Notably, the state government appointed Justice Dash as a member after all the three positions in the OHRC remained vacant for more than four months.
