Bhubaneswar: Jyoshna Sabar won a bronze medal in the 400m hurdles on the concluding day of the U-18 National Youth Athletics Championship at Vadodara, Gujarat. This was the third medal for Odisha in the competition, the other two coming through Punga Soren (gold in 110m hurdles) and Manisha Merel (bronze in girls’ long jump).
Jyoshna clocked 1:05.82 seconds to finish on the podium behind Vishnu Priya (1:02.52s) of Kerala who set a new meet record to win the gold. The silver went to K Prajna (1:05.08s) of Karnataka.
However, it was a disappointing day for the Odisha girls’ medley team as they finished sixth. Sprinter Sukhi Baskey who had impressed in the heats by finishing first could not reproduce the same form and came eighth in girls’ 200m.
