Kalamandir is a household brand in Odisha that has garnered love from all across the state. Since its first store in 1977 till date, the brand has never failed to provide the best quality products and services. Despite increasing competition, the family fashion store is committed to satisfying its customers. During an interaction with Orissa POST, Managing Partner of Kalamandir, Rajinder Singh shared the company’s journey.
How did Kalamandir become the state’s most-loved fashion destination?
With its humble beginning 40 years back, it has now become the favourite fashion destination for most households. We have received maximum affection, support, and trust from our customers spread all over Odisha, particularly Bhubaneswar. We garnered their love because we believe in providing our customers with the finest collections of garments for gents, ladies and children beside an excellent range of sarees and lehengas. Another reason for success is our reasonable price policy.
How was the business during Covid-19?
We went through a very difficult situation during the lockdown period. Showrooms were closed from March 15 to May end. After reopening, sales were down by 25-30 per cent between June and September. However, with the blessings of Lord Jagannath, sales have substantially improved from the month of October. Now our current sales figures are getting closer to the pre-Covid levels.
What’s your opinion on the Budget?
Under difficult circumstances, the Union Finance Minister presented a very good, bold and growth-oriented Budget. I believe this Budget will eventually help most segments of business to revive. I believe it will enhance the confidence of the people and they will start spending more which will lead to the growth of businesses.
