Bhubaneswar: A delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Wednesday moved the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to complain about the BJD alleging that the regional party is spreading misinformation about the scheme benefits and asked the CEO to clarify his stand.
The delegation which was led by party state vice president Samir Mohanty said the BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra in a recent press conference told the newsmen with the actions of the CEO with the backing of the BJP the benefits of the Kalia schemes are not reaching out to the beneficiaries.
The party also questioned the silence of the CEO into the matter and asked him to come out in public with his side of the story. The BJP in its memorandum submitted before the poll panel said, “The general public and specially the farmers ought to know if the CEO was pressurized by the BJP or the CEO has taken such decision on his own or as per the reply from the state government. All such questions need to be clarified by the CEO.”
The BJP manifesto also said that the silence of the CEO is adding to the confusions and also tarnished the image of the saffron party. It said, “We have every reason to believe that the BJD made a game plan so as to disfavor BJP and to stop the implementation of PM Kishan Yojana.”
Raking up the issue, the BJP said that BJD allegedly hatched a conspiracy to malign the BJP with the intension to unduly influence the voters and set back the popularity of the BJP. The party said that such acts are violations of the Model Code of Conduct and CEO has become part of the same. “…All such conducts are violation of the Model Code of Conduct to which the CEO has become a party,” the BJP said.
The party said that the CEO either clarify his stand or persecute Sasmit Patra for spreading false propaganda on the issue.
