KALIA helped 30 lakh farmers, says CM

Rourkela: Around 30 lakh farmers have benefitted from the government’s KALIA scheme and 10 lakh more will soon get its benefits, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said here while addressing a KALIA scheme farmers’ meet at the Airport Ground in Sector-13 Friday.

“The government is particular that not even a single farmer must be left out of the scheme, and I am personally monitoring this,” he added.

The CM said that a large number of students will get help from the scholarship scheme meant for the children of KALIA beneficiaries.

“The meritorious children of farmers who cannot pursue higher education due to financial problems will benefit from this scheme,” he said.

The CM also inaugurated 23 projects involving an estimated outlay of Rs 336.61 crore. He also laid foundation stones for 19 projects worth Rs 309.78 crore.

The CM inaugurated an STI over-bridge, streetlights, a hostel and a guest house on the premises of the Biju Patnaik University of Technology. He also inaugurated a market complex in Koel Nagar.

Naveen also distributed land title deeds to slum dwellers of seven ULBs in four districts.
