Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Monday launched the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation’ (KALIA) scheme which aims to benefit over 22.40 lakh farmers of the state in the first phase.
Launching the scheme through video conferencing from the secretariat, Patnaik released the list of 21.40 lakh small farmers and over one lakh actual farmers who will get an assistance of Rs 5,000 each under the scheme by January 25 next.
Patnaik December 21 last had announced the scheme to accelerate agricultural prosperity, reduce poverty and increase income of the farmers. He said, in the next phase the lists of eligible farmers and actual farmers will be published so that not a single farmer will be deprived of the benefits of the scheme.
Describing the scheme as the largest scheme of the state, Patnaik claimed that 92 per cent of farmers that included cultivators, loanees as well as non-loanee farmers, share croppers and landless agriculture labourers will be covered under the scheme.
The CM asked the officials of the agriculture, cooperation and the panchayatiraj department to work in a mission mode for the successful implementation of the scheme. The selection of the beneficiaries would be taken up in three phases. Official sources said in the first phase 21.40 lakh farmers’ data have been sent to the District Collectors which would also be sent to all GPs for addition and correction and finalisation of the list of farmers.
The process would be completed by January 15 next and fund transfer to selected beneficiaries would be completed by January 25. The fund transfer to the eligible beneficiaries in the second phase would be completed by February 25 and the left out cases would be dealt with in third phase.
