Bolangir: Representatives of BJP and Congress Wednesday reached the Collector’s office here and alleged that BJD’s Lok Sabha candidate Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo has furnished incorrect information in his affidavit.
Among the eight candidates who filed their nomination papers Tuesday the most prominent are Kalikesh, Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo of BJP and Samarendra Mishra of the Congress.
When the scrutiny of nominations papers was carried out Wednesday, representatives of BJP and Congress alleged that Kalikesh’s name figures in two voter identity cards.
They alleged that the voter identity card of the Bolangir Palace Lines bears his name and the list of Gopabandhu Nagar in Bhubaneswar also carries his name. They also handed over the copies of the voter ID cards to the election officer.
BJP district president alleged that the BJD candidate has not mentioned in his affidavit that he has two identity cards.
Congress members also accused Kalikesh of furnishing wrong information in his affidavit.
Congress candidate Mishra, advocate Prahallad Agrawal and Arabindaksha Pujari filed their written complaints with the returning officer and the Collector Arabinda Dakua.
They demanded cancellation of BJD candidate’s nomination, saying Kalikesh has mentioned that he has no agricultural land.
They also alleged that his father Ananga Uday Singh Deo mentioned in his affidavit during last elections that he had 72.66 acres of ancestral land. Meanwhile Kalikesh has mentioned in his affidavit that he owns no land.
Though the Collector received the complaint letter, he hasn’t taken any action against the BJD candidate, it was learnt.
As per the information shared by the district information and public relation office, all the nominations of the eight candidates have been marked as valid.
