Jharsuguda:  Skeletons have come tumbling out of the cupboard in the much hyped double murder case of Kalpana Dash and her daughter Babli as the former was learnt to have consulted a lawyer before her death to file a case against a high-profile person, a report said. Former Brajarajnagar legislator Anup Sai is alleged to have committed the double murder.

Kalpana, who is one of the victims in the murder case, had expressed interest to file a case in the name of a high profile person some days back before she was killed. This was revealed by Raigarh SP Santosh Kumar Singh and a lawyer who was consulted by Kalpana to fight the case. The revelation came during a probe by the Raigarh police. Police painstakingly collected details about the crime but are facing challenge in proving them, the SP said.

Police served notices on Sai’s family members, relatives and various other persons asking them to cooperate in the investigation.

Police said Kalpana’s relationship with Sai grew after her separation from her husband. She was staying with Sai as husband and wife in a live-in relationship, the Raigarh SP said. However, Kalpana insisted on Sai to accept her as his wife after staying in a live-in relationship for days. This became the cause of regular bickering between them and the reason behind her and her daughter Babli’s gruesome murder.

A few days before the murder, Kalpana consulted a prominent lawyer in Jharsuguda over phone and expressed her interest to file a case against a high profile person.

However, the SP did not reveal the name of the high-profile person against whom Kalpana wanted to file a case. The SP only said police have collected several clues on the murder case and will call the concerned persons for questioning at an appropriate time.

The SP said Anup and his driver who are in custody were not cooperating with the police during interrogation.
