Kandhamal Gram Rozgar Sevak caught red-handed while accepting Rs 32K bribe

Daringbadi: Phulbani Vigilance sleuths arrested Gram Rozgar Sevak (GRS) Dillip Kumar Sahu, who is presently working at Simanbadi panchayat office under Daringbadi block in Kandhamal district Friday afternoon, on the charge of accepting bribe of Rs 32,000.

According to reports, a beneficiary named Ranjan Digal belonging to Ladamala village of the same panchayat had received the state government grant of Rs 1,60,000 for digging a well at  his household.

After digging the well, Ranjan submitted a bill to Simanbadi panchayat office for payment of the sanctioned amount. However, the GRS asked Ranjan to pay bribe against passing the bill. Dillip demanded that Rs 16,000 should be deposited in his bank account and the remaining amount to be paid in cash, Vigilance sources said.

As Ranjan expressed his inability to pay the bribe, his bill was not passed for payment and he resorted to seek the help of the Phulbani Vigilance department. According to the plans, Ranjan deposited Rs 12,000 in Dillip’s bank account and agreed to pay him hard cash of Rs 20,000.

Chemical smeared notes were given to Dillip at Simanbadi panchayat office and he was caught red handed by the Vigilance team. The team has also seized valuable documents along with bribe money.
