Mumbai: Thalaivii, the biographical drama based on the life of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, the late J Jayalalithaa is all set to hit the theatrical screens September 10. Jayalalitha’s role is being portrayed by Kangana Ranaut.
While Kangana will be delighted that the film will have a theatrical release, the makers of the movie have another cause to rejoice. The Censor Board has accorded a ‘U’ certificate to the film. It should also be stated here that this directorial venture of Al Vijay will be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
The movie was announced on Jayalalithaa’s birth anniversary in 2019 and was set to be released on April 23, 2021. However, the outbreak of the pandemic affected shooting, post-production work and its release.
The biopic will take the audience on a journey of Jayalalitha’s film and political career. The makers of the film, which co-stars Arvind Swamy as MG Ramachandran (MGR), recently said that four songs featuring MGR and Jayalalithaa have been recreated for Thalaivii.
The first look of the film and the trailer was a great experience for the audience and so was the first song. Thalaivii marks Kangana Ranaut’s second biopic after Manikarnika.
In addition to this project, Kangana has films like Tejas and Dhaakad in the pipeline. The actress just got back from Budapest, where she was filming Dhaakad where she dons the hat of a spy. She is called ‘Agni’ in the film.
