Kashipur cholera outbreak: Congress’ Tara Bahinipati demands Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia for kin of deceased

Bhubaneswar: Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati Tuesday demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the people who lost their lives to cholera outbreak in Kashipur block of Rayagada district.

Speaking in Odisha Assembly, Bahinipati said that several people lost their lives owing to the neglect by the state government. He has asked for an all-party committee headed by the Speaker of the House to probe the incident and sought Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia for the kin of the deceased.

Meanwhile, the Assembly witnessed ruckus over the issue as Opposition BJP joined Congress MLAs to target the government.

It may be mentioned here that 17 people have already died owing to cholera outbreak in the state.  While14 people have died in Kashipur and three more died in Dasmanthpur Monday.
