Kayakalp Awards: AIIMS bags health-care award for the 3rd time, Angul DHH gets award for Swachhta

Bhubaneswar: As many as 19 District Headquarters Hospitals (DHHs), 78 District Headquarters Hospitals (DHHs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs), 156 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and 18 upgraded PHCs of Odisha were presented the Kayakalp Award in a virtual ceremony Tuesday evening for promoting cleanliness, hygiene and creating sustainable practices.
 Among the hospitals owned by the Central government in Odisha, All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhubaneswar, has won the Award as it has proved itself in maintaining and promoting cleanliness, hygiene and creating sustainable practices in public health facilities.

The institute has been adjudged as the best central government hospital under B category for cleanliness for third consecutive year. AIIMS Bhubaneswar will get an award of Rs 2 crore for the performance. Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan presented the award in a virtual ceremony at New Delhi, Tuesday.

In DHH category Angul District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) won the first prize of `50 lakh, Kalahandi DHH received the second prize of `20 lakh as the runners up.

Similarly at the community level, Rairangpur SDH and Jashipur CHC bagged the first prize of `15 lakh.

“Kayakalp has not only been able to facelift the condition of public health facilities but has also made significant impact in improving the behaviour of masses. This paradigm shift is well reflected in the number of ‘Satisfied’ patients as reported through ‘Mera Aspataal’”, said Harsh Vardhan.

 “The scheme, which saw the participation of 716 District Hospitals and central government institutions in its first year has spread to 26,172 public health facilities now. In the last year 2019-20, the number of Kayakalp facilities has increased to 7,615,” added the Union Minister.
