‘Kaze’ promotes road safety

BHUBANESWAR: ‘KAZE’, a road safety event, was organised by a bike firm to educate people about superbikes and allay their safety concerns with focus on both technical aspect of riding.

Many riders joined the event including an Italian lady. She participated with her Royal Enfield. She had come to visit ISKCON. The most intuitive part of the event was mutual sharing of driving experiences by the participants.

A Kawasaki official said, “We have started conversations with the rider. Everyone over here has shared their best and worst experience publicly which is a lesson for everyone and to their motorcycling lifestyle.”

Kawasaki also displayed some of their factory racing team videos from world superbike championship and Kawasaki factory stunt rider Jayson Britton explaining professional stunt riding to people.

This was followed by a discussion regarding rash driving and traffic issues across the city where X-Bhp Bhubaneshwar came up with strong points to promote safe riding.

The RTO test track was used as a reference road map and riders with all safety gears rode multiple laps around to test the advanced features of the bike such as Antilock Braking System, Electronic Brake force distribution, different levels of traction control and advantages of slipper clutch. They also got to know some of the basic riding tips by Udipta Kumar.

Udipta Kumar tried almost every model and concluded that Ninja 400 was the best in mid-range category. With great power delivery and aggressive braking, the bike is second to none. With smoother suspension, it can take up to both tracks and streets all together.

After the riding session, participants filled up the ‘I pledge to safety ride’ board prepared by Kawasaki. Everyone wrote a line, their thought regarding safety riding. Udipta wrote, “Don’t just wear a helmet to escape cops, wear one to dodge death.” The board would be displayed in public for some days. The event was aimed to develop safe and skilled riders from the state.
