Kendrapara: District Collector Samartha Verma Monday withheld the salary of assistant district medical officer (ADMO) Kishore Kumar Acharya posted at the district headquarters hospital (DHH) here till further orders as he found that several important medicines, meant for free distribution among patients under Niramaya Yojana, were out of stock at the hospital.
The District Collector also interacted with a few patients and came to know that health services at the DHH are in a shabby shape and brokers were still doing brisk business at the hospital.
The ADMO, who is in-charge of the District Headquarters Hospital, is yet to take action to ensure the DHH is free from brokers.
The state government has launched Niramaya Yojana for providing free medicines to the poor patients, but due to the callous attitude of the medical officer at the DHH, patients failed to get proper health-care facilities including free medicines.
The district administration is committed to ensuring implementation of the Chief Minister’s 5Ts to make the officials more accountable to the people for which he had to withhold the salary of the ADMO, informed Verma.
