Kendrapara bag bonus point

Cuttack, Jan 18: Kendrapara bagged six points, including a bonus point, after thrashing Balasore by 10 wickets in their two-day tie in the OCA U-16 Inter-District Sumit Bose Memorial cricket tournament at DRIEMS ground here Sunday.

After taking a first innings lead of 69 runs, Kendrapara bundled out Balasore for 82 runs in their second essay with Sudata Chandan (5/15) shining with the ball. Kendrapara then easily knocked off the 14 runs required for victory.

(At DRIEMS Ground): Balasore 128 and 82 (Sudata Chandan 5/15) lost to Kendrapara 197 and 16/0 by 10 wickets.

(At Sunshine Ground): Bhadrak 98 and 105 lost to Bhubaneswar-A 122 and 83/3 ( Ansuman Sinha 38 n o) by seven wickets.

(At Ravenshaw Ground–II): Cuttack-B 164 and 68 (Suryakanta Samal 8/35); Bhubaneswar-B 129 and 62/5 (Sai Prasad Acharya 3/25) Match drawn.

(At Bidanasi Ground): Jharsuguda 132 and 125/6 (Md Saha Arman 41 n o); Cuttack-A 172 (Sourav Parida 49, Md Saha Arman 5/41) Match drawn.

 OCA appointments

Ranjib Biswal has been reappointed as the chairman of the nine-member senior selection committee of the state, while Balabhadra Patnaik will be the new chairman of the 11-member junior selection committee.

Shiv Sundar das has been appointed as the technical director of OCA Academy. Among other appointees are Prasanta Mohapatra (batting coach), Pawan Agrawal (pace bowling coach) and Kulamani Parida (spin bowling coach). In another development  Debashis Mohanty has been retained as the coach of the Ranji team.
