Keonjhar: A man died while his wife is battling for life after they attempted suicide at Gumura village under Keonjhar town police station Thursday evening. They had been under severe mental distress since the death of their 14-day-old daughter.
The deceased has been identified as Madan Mohan Pingua. He worked as Koenjhar MP Chandrani Murmu’s driver. The deceased’s wife Tiki is undergoing treatment at Keonjhar district headquarters hospital (DHH).
According to a source, the couple was blessed with a baby girl May 6. The couple and their families had been in happy and joyful mood. However, fate played a cruel joke on them. The newborn developed health issues May 17 and was immediately admitted at Keonjhar DHH. However, she did not survive.
The couple had since been under depression and took the tragic step to end their lives Thursday afternoon. They locked themselves in their bedroom and consumed poison. The family members immediately broke the door open and rushed Madan and Tiki to Keonjhar DHH. While undergoing treatment Madan breathed his last. Tiki is struggling for life.
After getting information, MP Murmu visited the DHH. She discussed with the doctors about Tiki’s health condition and asked them to do their best to save her life.
