Hatadihi: After Keonjhar reported its first case of COVID-19, the District Administration Sunday evening declared three villages as containment zones.
The district police have sealed Mugupur, Hirapur and Sarbeshwarpur villages under Panchugochia gram panchayat of Hatadihi block in the district.
District Collector Ashish Thakare said that the three villages are densely populated areas. “We sealed the villages for carrying out contact tracing, testing and isolation activities to prevent the spread of coronavirus”, added Thakare.
The containment zone period for the villages has been started from Sunday 6:00pm and will continue for next 48 hours. The district collector also said that the containment may be extended if situation warrants.
Residents of these areas have been asked not to come out of their houses. Policemen have been deployed at key junctions to enforce the containment zone norms. Essentials commodities are being provided at the door-steps of villages by the district administration.
Meanwhile, teams are collecting swab samples of villagers and carrying out a sanitisation drive.
On the other hand, the district administration has also declared 11 villages as buffer zones.
Panchugochia, Balabhadrapur, Tarava, Bareswar, Tikara, Nilpur, Baradi, Adahuria villages under Panchugochia panchayat and Bancho, Sibnaryanpur and Singdov villages under Bancho panchayat have come under buffer zone.
In buffer zone only essential commodity shops and medicine shops are to be remained open and all other shops will remain closed.
Notably, a COVID-19 positive case was detected from Mugupur village Sunday. He is a West Bengal returnee.
However, Hirapur and Sarbeshwarpur are the neighbouring villages of Mugupur.
