Keonjhar district residents ask collector to prevent religious conversions in their villages

Keonjhar: Residents of Sunaposhi and Gopinathpur villages under Saharpada block met Thursday the District Collector of Keonjhar, Ashish Thakare and handed him two memorandums. The villagers were seeking his intervention to stop the rampant religious conversations that are taking place in the two villages. The group travelled 60km to hand over the memorandums here at the collector’s office.

In the memorandums, the residents have alleged that religious conversions are affecting peace and tranquility in the two villages. They have requested Thakare to put an end to such acts. They alleged that conversions are being done in lieu of money and the promise to provide medical care.

The villagers have also appealed to the collector to take action against those involved in such conversions. The group presented the memorandums to Thakare under the leadership of Kalu Hansda and Chandrasekhar Majhi respectively. They are the headmen of the two villages.
