Keonjhar: The COVID-19 tally of Keonjhar district crossed 1,000 mark Friday with 16 new cases. The total coronavirus infected cases in the district now stands at 1,008.
Of the fresh 16 cases of COVID-19, 14 have contracted the virus locally and the remaining two are from quarantine centres.
Among the local cases, Hatadihi block reported a maximum of eight cases followed by Anandapur municipality and Keonjhar Sadar block at two each. meanwhile, Champua and Jhumpura blocks reported one each. Similarly, of the two quarantine cases, Ghatagaon and Telkoi reported one each.
All the patients have been shifted to COVID-19 hospitals and their immediate relatives and those came in contact with them have been asked to quarantine themselves.
Of the total 1,008 cases, 729 patients have recovered from the disease while 277 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals. The virus has so far claimed two lives in the district.
With the district reporting more numbers of local cases, it has become a cause of concern for the district administration.
