BHUBANESWAR: If you are a nature enthusiast who loves to explore the best destinations during monsoon, you have a treat in store at Tenteinali waterfall.

This foaming waterfall descends from a height of around 150 feet unobstructed. For those in the mood to soak into the real experience, a visit to the waterfall is a must.

The waterfall is situated near a village Telkoi in Keonjhar district. It is 154 km away from Cuttack. One has to take the Kanjipani Ghat route via Telkoi village to reach the destination. The fall is located deep inside the forest and trekkers will have to hike one km to reach it.

Interacting with Orissa POST, Subhasish Dash, an explorer, said, “The trekking is worth the experience as one has to navigate dense forests and powerful winds to get there. The way is slippery, narrow and rocky besides being downhill. You will witness some of the most amazing landscapes all around. The thrill of the trek is sure to bring you goosebumps.”

The waterfall is the favourite picnic spot for many tourists who visit the place in their own vehicles or local buses. During monsoons, these hills come alive with shades of green coming out from every corner. This is also the time when these waterfalls turn into gigantic, roaring cascades and expand flooding the nearby areas.

During other seasons, Tenteinali waterfall is the preferred destination for hikers and trekkers who climb up the top to see the source of the waterfall. From Telkoi, one could also visit the scenic Kanjipani ghat set at a distance of a mere 20 km and get to see the paddy cultivation in the farmlands there.

As the fall is located in thick forestland, a hike to the spot offers a plethora of sights for wildlife lovers. Rare species of frogs, caterpillars, butterflies, snakes and other creepers can be easily spotted, along with several plant species. Beware of leaches though, as they are found aplenty here.
