Bhubaneswar: The death of a gym owner from Bhakarsahi area of Banamalipur village under Balipatna police limits in Khurda district has taken a mysterious turn after a video — recorded by the deceased before death — went viral on internet.
In the viral video, the victim Rashmi Ranjan Biswal alleged that his life was in danger as some of his family members wanted to kill him. He further named a few of his family members such as Satyanarayan Biswal, Smrutiranjan Biswal, and Swarnalata Sahu who were after his life. He went on to say that if he dies then government should try to find out the reason behind his death and punish the perpetrators.
Rashmi’s aunt said that he went to sleep Thursday night after having dinner. She claimed to have no idea about the video.
It can be mentioned here that the deceased, who owned a gym in Khurda district’s Banamalipur, was found dead Friday morning. One of his family members claimed that he died by suicide.
According to a source, the family of the deceased performed the last rites of Rashmi in a hush-hush manner without informing the local police. They cremated his body without following the due procedure of an autopsy.
Police have launched a probe into the matter after the video went viral. They visited Rashmi’s house and questioned some of his family members.
Additionally, a forensic team visited the cremation ground and collected some samples for examination.
