Kidnap on gunpoint: Four dreaded criminals with a history of violence arrested in Bolangir

Bolangir: The police arrested four youths Sunday In connection with a kidnap case on gunpoint that happened July 16 in Bolangir district. The  four youths, it has been learnt, are dreaded criminals and have a history of violence.

The accused have been identified as Soumyaranjan Dash, Sanjeev Mugri, Bishal Suna and Akash Sandha, all from Malpada area of Bolangir town.

Worthy to note, the main accused Soumyaranjan and his five accomplices had earlier kidnapped another local youth named Prashant Kheti near Malpara ring road. They had then taken him to a dense forest area near a local bottling plant and had demanded a ransom of Rs 50,000 towards his release.

On his refusal to pay, the victim was severely beaten up by the accused. They grabbed a gold chain, a gold ring and took away a cash of Rs 7,500 from Prashant. He was detained in the forest nightlong and dropped at Patharchepa area in the morning.

Acting on the FIR lodged by Prashant, Bolangir town police arrested the four accused while two others are still absconding. The police have seized three bikes, two axes and five mobile phones from them.
