Bhubaneswar: Police tracked delivery guy Patitapaban Prusty down in Madhya Pradesh with a girl when they were riding in a train, in a key twist in the case.
While he and the girl have been detained by police, Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash believes that after questioning the two, the truth about the incident will emerge. To recover the two, a police squad from Bhubaneswar will travel to Madhya Pradesh.
During their inquiry, the Dhauli Police discovered CCTV evidence of Patitapaban walking down the street, contradicting his family’s claims that he was kidnapped on September 11 night near the Daya river on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. With the help of the Government Railway Police (GRP), police tracked his phone and were able to locate him.
His shoes, purse, wallet, T-shirt, and knife were all seized on the spot by police. Patitapaban’s wife had also received a voice message from him, in which he claimed he was being kidnapped by four drunken auto-rickshaw drivers.
He may have faked the kidnapping to deceive his family into believing he had been kidnapped.
The matter has taken on new dimensions as the parents of a girl from the Balanga region of Puri district filed a complaint with the Gop police stating that Patitapaban kidnapped their daughter, a college student.
Patitapaban allegedly had a relationship with their daughter prior to his marriage, according to them. They claimed he kept the connection going after he married.
The two built a bond while Patitapaban visited his relative’s house, which was close to the girl’s home, according to the complainants.
It’s worth noting that Patitapaban married Ahalya Parida of Maliatutha village in Puri district’s Ramachandi police limits eight months ago. Later, the couple moved into a rented house in the Dhauli neighbourhood of the capital city.
