Champua: Two years after the construction of an Aganwadi centre started at Parahala in Champua block of Keonjhar, it has not been completed till now.
Finding no other go, the Annganwadi worker teaches children in the kitchen of a nearby primary school.
The government has been spending lakhs of rupees for infrastructure, food stuff and toys for the kids. Anganwadis play a vital role in giving pre-school education, supplementary nutrition to kids, pregnant women and their immunization.
There are 25 children at the Anganwadi centre while food is prepared at the house of the Anganwadi worker. Children are found loitering on school verandah and sometimes inside the kitchen.
Although fund was sanctioned for the Anganwadi centre in 2016-17, the construction work was abandoned mid-way. Anganwadi worker Mandodari Patra had reported the matter to Champua sub-collector about the Anganwadi centre. Now, locals have expressed resentment over the tardy pace of construction of the Anganwadi centre.
