Kingpin held in Golak Pradhan lynching case

Khuntuni: Seven days after the gruesome murder of Golak Pradhan, a shopkeeper of Mahalpada, police arrested the main culprit Monday.

According to a complaint lodged by the family of the deceased, Golak was lynched by 12 people at Nidhipada Gada in Khuntuni police station limits a week ago.

The police had arrested three persons in this connection on the day of the incident. However, Saroj Swain alias Dipu, the kingpin, was at large.

As per a direction issued by Cuttack SP Radha Binod Panigrahi, a special team of Choudwar SDPO Prashant Kumar Malla and Khuntuni IIC Suchitrabirya Das conducted raids at Cuttack, Puri, Dhenkanal and other places to nab Saroj and his eight accomplices.

Getting info about the raid, Saroj was planning to flee to Balasore. But the police team nabbed him from Manguli Square where he was waiting for a bus.

Unhappy with this, the victim’s family Monday alleged that the police had failed to arrest Saroj’s eight associates.

“We will arrest those whose names surfaced during the probe. It will not be possible to reveal the names of all the culprits as it will affect investigations,” the IIC said.
