KISS centre in Maharashtra soon

Bhubaneswar: Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) has planned to set up a sister school for tribal kids at Maharashtra and laid the foundation stone for it Sunday.

The new institute will be named Lions Choice KISS Residential School and work for the upliftment of the underprivileged tribal children of the state.

The foundation stone laying ceremony was held at Jambha which is around 100 km from Mumbai and comes under Vikramgad tehsil of Palghar district. The school is expected to start functioning from the next academic session.

Speaking on the occasion, Samanta said, “For the last five years, I had been thinking and planning to open a branch of KISS for the underprivileged children in Maharashtra.”

He added that at last, his “long cherished dream” of empowering the tribal kids in Maharashtra has come true.

In collaboration with Lions Mumbai Choice Foundation under the leadership of CA Sunil Patodia, District Governor, 3231, Lions Club, KISS has planned to establish the institute.

Samanta expressed his gratitude for Patodia and said, “It is only possible because of the love and concern of Shri Patodia.”

Palghar is primarily a tribal dominated district, where the children don’t have access to education.

KISS in collaboration with Lions Mumbai Choice Foundation under the leadership of CA Sunil Patodia, District Governor, 3231, Lions Club, has planned to establish the institute.

The infrastructure and establishment costs will be borne by the foundation for which an initial investment of Rs 60 crore will be made. Around 5,000 underprivileged boys and girls will be imparted education there at free of cost in a complete residential format.

Samanta also inaugurated a community toilet complex at Vartak Asahat, a village adopted by Lions Club of Heritage Galaxy and Leo Club of Heritage Galaxy.
