KISS, Sainik script emphatic wins

Bhubaneswar, Sept 4: KISS and Sainik School registered convincing wins against their respective opponents in the Inter-School MCL Cup football tournament at the Unit-VI Ground here Friday.

In the first match, KISS blanked Times Gurukul 3-0. KISS dominated the match completely. Sana Marandi opened account as early as fourth minute of the match. Dilip Murmu doubled the lead in the 28th minute and they went into the lemon break with a 2-0 lead. After the change of ends Dilip scored his second goal in the 47th minute to finish the rout. Dilip was adjudged the man of the match.

In the second match, Sainik School rode on a hat-trick by Santosh Kumar Behera to spank Prabhujee English Medium School 4-1.

Satosh struck in the 38th, 41st and 44th minutes respectively. The other goal was scored by Raja Kumar Balmiki in the 14th minute. Chandan Swain got one back for Prabhujee in the 33rd minute. Santosh bagged the man of the match award.

Unit-VI Athletic Association stated through a press release that they will organise a penalty-kick tournament here Sunday. Altogether 27 schools will participate in the tournament.

Team leaves

A 25- member Orissa team left from here Friday, to take part in the Senior National Powerlifting Championship at Kashipur, Uttarakhand, September7-13.

Shooters selected

Orissa Rifle Association (ORA) has selected six shooters Friday, for the Vth Gun for Glory Shooting Championship at Pune, September 6-13. They are Ashis Nayak, Bhabani Prasad Haiburu, Debashis Rout, Sonal Sibasis Swain, Sandeep Mohanty and Saibani Oram.
