Bhubanesware: The World Kitchen Garden Day organised by Kitchen Gardener’s association Sahidnagar was celebrated at the State Quality Control Labrotary, here Sunday. The main aim of the meet was to popularise kitchen gardens and organic food.
Addressing the function Anoop Kumar , general manager, NABARD, spoke about the ill effects of stale food and how kitchen garden can provide better and healthy food. Former director of horticulture SN Behera spoke about the benefits of organic farming and its utility in everyday life.
The function was attended by large number if members of Kitchen Gardner Association of Sahidnagar.
Various organic vegetables were also exhibited for sale.
The Ekamravan plant association also exhibited some rare medicinal plants on the occasion, which were also for sale.
Maheswar Khillar, one of the members of Kitchen Garden association of Sahidnagar, displayed how to make ‘Amrut water’ that gives life to stale and dying trees.
Another member, Ekadashi Nanda described the benefits of a rooftop kitchen garden and how it helps in augmenting health as well as income.
A special ‘Kitchen Garden Rath’ was also taken around the city to create awareness among the citizens regarding world kitchen garden day.
