Amarnath cave is a Hindu shrine located in Jammu and Kashmir. It is covered with snow most of the year except for a short period of time in summer when it is open for pilgrims. Hundreds of thousands of Hindu devotees make an annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave across challenging mountainous terrain. The shrine forms an important part of Hinduism, and is considered to be one of the holiest shrines in Hinduism.
Everyone knows about the natural ‘shivling’ of the Amarnath shrine. According to a Hindu religious belief, this is the place where Shiva explained the secret of life and eternity to his divine consort, Parvati, but did you know that there exists a massive ‘shivling’ in Europe?
There is a 40 km long ice cave in Werfen near the city of Salzburg, Austria, which has a natural ‘shivling-like’ shape which is much bigger than the ‘shivling’ at Amarnath.
Stairs have been made for about one kilometer in this cave so that one can climb up to the ‘shivling’. The height of this structure is about 75 feet. People have to go through dangerous paths to get inside the cave.
It is the longest ice cave in the world. It was discovered in the year 1879. Here you will find many shapes that look like ‘shivlings’.
This ice cave is open from May to October. Many tourists have testified that they have had otherworldly experiences inside the cave.
