Kolkata connection: STF tracks down Tito’s properties

Bhubaneswar: A special task force (STF) of state Crime Branch (CB) left for Kolkata Sunday to investigate alleged links with the entire crime network and properties of gangster Syed Usman Ali alias Tito.

Sources in the police said they have information about properties, including land, house and vehicle, owned by the gangster in Kolkata.

Meanwhile, a five-day remand of Tito ended Sunday.

The CB has seized several bank documents and vehicles following separate raids on the gangster’s residence in Kendrapara district and other places Saturday.

Around six cheque books and one passbook were seized from Tito’s residence at Dilarpur. A total of 17 tippers, a trailer and eight excavators were also seized from backyard of Benazir Infrastructure Private Limited, belonging to the gangster.

Besides, around 13 files, documents and three CPUs were seized from M/S Sumbul traders owned by Tito while one CPU, a hard disk, one CCTV DVR and two mobile phones were recovered from the house of his brother Sappo.

The raid was conducted under the supervision of STF DIG Himanshu Lal with the support of STF SP Satyajeet Nayak and Kendrapara SP Niti Shekhar.

An associate of Tito, Khirod Kar, was picked up from his residence at Sanamangala area in Kendrapara district by CB sleuths. Another associate of the gangster Niranjan Sahoo was also arrested.

CB officials conducted simultaneous raids on Tito’s residence at Dilarpur, his office located along Bypass Road, bike showroom at Pattamundai in Kendrapara and his petrol pumps in Kendrapara and Paradip Friday afternoon.

The STF took Tito on a five-day remand June 4. The CB had appealed for a 10-day remand of the gangster. However, the Kendrapara sub-divisional judicial magistrate (SDJM) court gave the permission for five days.
