Jeypore: In view of the spike in COVID-19 cases, the Koraput district administration Monday declared a one-week lockdown in four civic bodies and four panchyats in the district.
The lockdown will be in force from July 21 to July 27.
The decision has been taken in view of public interest and to contain further spread of COVID-19 in the district informed, Madhusudan Mishra, Monday.
The civic bodies where the lockdown will be imposed are Koraput, Sunabeda and Jeypore municipalities and Kotpad Notified Area Council. Similarly, the district administration will impose lockdowns four panchayats including Borigumma, Charanga, Pottangi and Laxmipur panchayats.
Addressing a press conference Mishra said that except the vegetable, grocery and milk booths, all other shops will remain close during the shutdown period.
Milk booths, vegetable and grocery shops will be allowed to open from 7 am to 1 pm.
With fresh 41 cases reported in the district Monday, the district’s total tally stands at 311. Out of the total positive cases, 226 are active cases while 85 patients have recovered.
