Koraput Collector reviews development works in Kotia panchayat

Koraput: Amid ongoing border dispute with Andhra Pradesh, Koraput Collector Abdaal M Akhtar Saturday reviewed ongoing development works at a number of villages under Kotia panchayat. He also held discussions with local residents about issues being faced by them.

According to an official, development works are underway at several villages including Madkar, Doliambo, Phatuseneri and Phagunaseneri under Pottangi block in the district. Akhtar visited a British Era road in a remote village of Kotia panchayat.

The Collector also assessed damages caused by cyclone Gulab. He inspected a dilapidated bridge at Madkar and another at Tadibalsa which were washed away in the cyclone.

Project director of district Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Pottangi Block Development Officer (BDO), Panchayat Extension Officer (PEO) of Kotia, Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) officials and Rural Development department engineers held discussions with Akhtar during his visit to Kotia.

It is pertinent to mention here that Andhra Pradesh administration conducted Gram Sabha at Ganjeipadar village under Kotia panchayat a couple of days ago. Officials present on the occasion tried to lure the villagers by assuring them that they will take up several development projects in the panchayat.
