Jeypore: Koraput SP Kanwar Vishal Singh Thursday suspended three havildars for dereliction of duty. Two accused persons had fled from Jeypore CJM court premises Wednesday.
The suspended police personnel are RK Swain, P Gupteswar Rao and Vikari Nayak.
The police also set up two special teams led by Town Police IIC Baleswar Gidhi to nab the prisoners, Additional SP V Raghunath Rao said.
Sources said the three policemen were taking Lal Bahadur Darji, a resident of Kusumput area in Jeypore Sadar police limits and T Paban Kumar of Malkangiri to court Wednesday. They reached the court and were waiting near the courtroom.
Meanwhile, the two asked the policemen for permission to relieve themselves. The policemen let them go to a nearby field and waited for them.
But the two ran away by jumping over a boundary wall with one of their associates who was waiting for them.
Later, Additional SP V Raghunath Rao and SDPO T Jagarao Reddy reached the court and launched a probe. Lal Bahadhur is facing seven cases while several cases like rape, loot and robbery are pending against Paban.
