Koraput town IIC dies of COVID-19

Koraput: The killer virus has claimed yet another COVID-19 warrior in the form of Koraput town police station IIC Pitabasa Dharua.

Known as a capable police officer, IIC Dharua fell ill while discharging his duties. He got his samples tested and the report came out to be positive for COVID-19 a few days ago.

He was admitted at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He lost the fight against the deadly virus Thursday morning.

As the news broke, a pall of gloom enveloped Koraput town.

In Odisha, while many police personnel are undergoing treatment for COVID-19, over 20 personnel, according to unofficial sources, have so far succumbed to the disease.

The district Thursday reported 47 fresh COVID-19 cases. With this, the district’s tally has increased to 6,196. Of them, 5,590 patients have recovered from the disease and 596 are still undergoing treatment. The deadly virus has so far claimed ten lives in the district.
